HI – I hope you made it there ok. We are doing fine over here. Sean tried to eat a little bit but threw up all over our bathroom floor. He is just drinking clear liquids now for a bit. Colin is still sleeping. We will be leaving soon to get Jess from school. How are you feeling? I hope all is well. Talk later. Love you both, mom

Jess had a good day at school. Colin took a two hour nap. Sean is feeling much better but he isn’t hungry at all. He is just drinking juice. I think he is on the mend though. I hope all is going well with you. We are praying that neither one of you gets sick. Jess is feeling fine yet and so am I. They are saying we might have a huge snowstorm Tues. & Wed. If Jess’ program is cancelled tomorrow they are going to reschedule it for Thursday. Have fun. Love you both!!!

Hi! This is the first chance we’ve had to email. We got up at 5am and left the base at 615am. It was about a 2 hr. drive to the base we were building at. We spent all day getting the framework up, drywall, outside wall and tomorrow we work on the drywall again, some painting, etc. not as much work as today but still will be very busy.
The best part of the day was the kids crowding us for candy, hats, etc. They were so eager to help with anything and loved interacting with us. They were so content just to play in the dirt and just walk up and down path stopping to talk to us.
Tomorrow we have to get up again at 5am! Early for me!
Tell the kids I love them and miss them. I hope Sean is feeling well and things are going well.
Love you all! I’ll try to post again tomorrow.

It is so good to hear from you. I am glad things are going well. I didn’t see your first post until now. We are just back from the program which went really well. It was so nice to see all of the kids. It is snowing hard here now. I will let you know if school is closed tomorrow. Mrs. Bos sent Sean home from school today. Colin was sleeping when she called after lunch so dad went to get him. He really wasn’t sick enough to come home but I think his stomach hurt after he ate lunch. He was fine afterward and ate supper. I think he is starting to get some of his appetite back.

The kids have been praying hard that you wouldn’t get sick so I am glad to hear that so far so good. Neither one of us has gotten sick yet either so maybe you won’t. The kids say hi and they love you. They are doing well. They are wonderful and we are having lots of fun. We are going to Chucky Cheese on Friday with Jeni, Colin & Nick.

Jess prayed tonight that the house you build doesn’t fall down – ha ha. Just thought you would like to hear that. How is the weather? How is the food? I am so glad that things are going well for you. Keep writing when you can. It is nice to hear from you.

Love you both lots – mom & dad

We just finished devotions and have about a half hour or so until they want us to go to bed for the night. The weather here today was warm and sunny. Upper 60′s, low 70′s. It’s nice to have some warm weather for a week! Other than that, we are keeping very busy. Matt wore himself out today running up and down the steep path with a whole bunch of kids running after him. The were so excited!
I was hoping Sean would have been back to normal by now,but it sounds like he is doing better which I’m thankful for! I wish I could have seen Jessica’s program, but I’m glad you and dad were there with her.
Tell Jess our house won’t fall down! It’s glued to the cement and nailed down!! Not going anywhere! I’ve been taking some pics of the house and will continue to take more!
Matt and I are still healthy….hope it stays that way!!
Love you all lots! Time is going by fast for us, I hope it is for you too!

Woke up to a snow day today. Went back to bed and we all slept until 8. The sun is out and we are going to have a fun day. We are going to Walmart to spend some money & look for toys. We are going to the Dollar Tree too to see what we can find. I think we will watch Twilight this afternoon & also do some crafts at our house. The kids are having a fun time and they are really really being good. You can be very proud of them. They are such wonderful helpers. I think we will go to McDonalds for supper tonight and get Happy Meals.

Sean says – I love you very much mom & dad. I miss you lots. Having a great time today.
Jessica says – I hope you are having a great time. I am glad that the house is not going to fall down – ha ha. Love you.

    Mom and Dad-
Today was another busy day. We sanded the drywall, put stucco on the outside of the house, the guys put on the porch and the rest of us worked on the windows. Tomorrow we put on the roof, paint the inside of the house green and decorate it and then dedicate it to the families. We are having a great time, I’m having alot of fun and getting alot of exercise! Up and down the steep path alot! The kids are great, they just laugh at us if we say the wrong word in Spanish to them! The love hats, candy and having their picture taken. I’m taking alot of pictures.
I am really, really enjoying myself! I was nervous at first, but not anymore. It is a great experience, just seeing how these people live and how truly grateful they are for everything. We’ll be up at 5am again tomorrow and they day will be a bit more relaxed overall.
I’m so glad to hear that the kids are being really good for you. That makes me feel alot better. How is Sean feeling?? Must be ok if you took them out! It sounds like we are going to the marked on Sunday and I’ll get everyone something. Thank you again for watching the kids. I truly appreciate it. Love you all very much. Heather

Got your message. I am so jealous. I wish I was tan right about now. The sun came out for a few minutes and then disappeared for the rest of the day. We went to McDonalds for supper tonight & dad came over to snowblow the driveway. When we pulled in it was all done. Do you have any idea who did it for you? It sure was nice. You had alot of snow in the driveway. That sure helped us out alot.

I noticed your dumpster was full. What day is the garbage pickup or did I miss it? I am keeping up with the laundry. I didn’t wash Sean’s quilt. He seems to be happy with the other blankets. He is feeling like his old self again. He was very hungry today. He is going to help me entertain Colin tomorrow. That little guy runs me ragged – ha ha.

We just got done with showers so they are playing a little before they go to bed. I am so happy to hear you are having such a good time. You sound like you are very happy you went. That is great. I am anxious to see all of the pictures you take too. I am glad you are taking alot of them.

I think this is so neat that we can write each other like this. It is hard to believe that we can communicate that far away & get the messages so fast. Jessica loved your letter to her. The kids are being so wonderful. I can’t tell you how great they have been. You should be very very proud of them.

Well – better go and get them to bed. They miss you but they are glad you have having a good time. They both pray for you every night.

Love you both very very much. Mom

Hey Sis! Glad to hear your having a great time! I can’t wait to see all your pictures and hear all your stories! I’m sure Matt will have a few funny ones to tell:) I went over to mom’s house to pick up Colin todayand there sat Jessica at the table with pink hair highlights. She tried to tell me that Grandma died her hair… but I wasn’t falling for it! Mom’s still in one piece and still has all her hair (that’s what she told Nick this morning). The kids are coming to my house Saturday afternoon and then going back to G&G’s after lunch on Sunday!! Tell Matt I said HI…talk to you soon!

Jessica & Sean say hi to you both over there. We are all fine over here. The kids & I are eating popsicles now before they go to bed. Our day went fine. The weather is much better today which is good. There is not much snow on the roads anymore.

The kids are excited for their valentine’s party tomorrow. We are meeting Jeni, Nick & Colin for supper at Chuckie Cheese tomorrow night. The kids are going to sleep over by our house on Friday & at Jeni’s on Saturday. They are really going to enjoy that. It will be like camping out – ha ha.

I hope you are doing well & enjoying your time there. We all miss you and love you lots.

    Hi all!
Today was a very emotional day for everyone. We finished up the painting and decorating in the houses and then we all went to one house at a time to dedicate them. The families and those who built the house were inside while the rest of us were outside. All the clothes, toys, shoes, etc were given to the families first and then the were given a message and asked if they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Every family accepted him and there are no words to describe how we all felt knowing that they accepted the Lord. As the family was inside during the message, all of the rest of us gathered around the house and laid our hands on it to pray for the family. Very, Very moving….
The weather here starts off cool in the morning, but then warms up quickly and is hot. I’m not to burned, but am getting a bit of a tan.
Tomorrow and Saturday we go to the medical clinics. Not sure how far away they are from where we are staying.
Tell the kids I am so proud of them for being good for you! I know kids are work in general, but it sure helps when they behave!
I’ve taken quite a few pictures and will have stories to tell when we get back. Lots and lots going on.
Tomorrow we are lucky enough to get to sleep in until 7am!
We are going to have our devotion/singing time soon. Love you all very much. I’ll try to email again tomorrow. We are heading to the clinics mid afternoon and won’t get back until very late. I’ll try to email in the morning if I can.

    mom-
forgot to tell you, garbage day is tomorrow(Friday), you can put it out if possible.

We have a guy on James St. that will come and snowblow our driveway sometimes, so I’m guessing he’s the one that did it.

    Mom, Dad, Jessica, Sean-

I have a few minutes to write so I thought I would. We just finished bagging frioles and rice for the medical clinic tonight. Each family gets a bag of rice, frioles and some type of oatmeal, along with the medication, soap and toothbrushes that will be handed out. We aren’t leaving for the clinics until later today and won’t be back until quite late.
We’re really having a good time. I feel so productive! I’m getting to know alot of people which is nice!
Other than that, not to much happening right now. Just taking some down time at the base.
I hope the kids are having a good day at school and I know they will enjoy Chuck E Cheese tonight. Not sure if you saw it or not, but taped to my cupboard is some points from Chuck E cheese that you can turn in for prizes along with whatever tickets they get tonight.
How was the trip to Walmart and the Dollar Tree? Did the kids find some toys?
It’s sunny again here today! I’m not looking forward to coming back to snow at all.
Love you all lots and I hope to email again tomorrow with more news. Love you

Just got your message. It is good to hear from you. Things are fine over here. Still lots of snow on the ground though. I would gladly trade you weather!!!

I am glad you feel so productive. That is what you were hoping for. I am glad you are meeting lots of nice people and getting to know them better. Good luck at the medical clinic. I’ll bet those people look forward to seeing you and getting help.

The kids are fine. They were looking forward to their Valentines parties today. I will stop by your house to get those Chuckie Cheese papers you were talking about. Jess had mentioned them but I had forgotten about it. I am doing all of the kids’ laundry today. That should help you some. I am catching up here while they are in school. It feels good to catch up and get a few things done. I got the garbage out too. I actually remembered!!

The kids are sleeping over here tonight & Jeni’s tomorrow. That should keep them busy. We have some crafts to do yet and I have some brownies to bake so we will keep busy. They want dad to watch Twilight tonight. We will have to see if we can fit it in. That is really not dad’s type of movie – ha ha.

Tell Matt I said hi. Keep safe. Anxious to see you on Monday. I think Sean misses you more than Jess does. She finds fun in everything while Sean is bored alot he says:) We did get lots of stuff at Walmart etc. They spent all of their money and then some!!

Love you all lots – mom

We’re back at the base after a long day at the clinic. I shared a testimony and started crying. I can’t believe I did that, but I spoke from the heart! I don’t cry very often, but so much was going on and I couldn’t help it. It was a good cry though! This mission trip has been a bit different from what I expected, in a good way.
I’m not surprised that Sean misses us more than Jessica does. She is definately getting older and doesn’t need mom and dad as much. She’s also more content that Sean is. I’m so glad though that no one else got sick! That is a blessing!
Thanks for putting the garbage out, that helps alot and thanks for doing the laundry also.
Tomorrow might be an even longer day b/c more families are supposed to be coming to the clinic. I’ll try to email in the morning before we go or at night if we get back on time..
I love you and miss you all! See you soon…..

Hi! Today’s clinic went really well, but was very long. I helped fill the bags with medicine for maybe 4-5 hrs. standing up. My right ankle, the one I broke, swelled up to about double the size. Not used to standing that long in one place. It was about a 3 hr.drive to the village we were serving at. In the middle of no where it seemed, yet the people had little desks for the kids to sit at, etc. One thing that gets me is how friendly everyone is! So welcoming and they love to hug and laugh with us, so unlike home where people can be quite unfriendly. I’m really looking forward to shopping tomorrow and we get to go out for lunch at a place that services really good chicken.
Well better get to bed, it’s almost midnight here. Hope the kids are doing well at Jeni’s. I’ll be home before you know it.
    Love Matt and Heather

HI – I am sorry to hear that your foot swelled up so big. That isn’t good. I didn’t write you yesterday because I was really really sick. We went out with Jeni, Nick & Colin to Chuck E Cheese on Friday night and had a wonderful time. Around 1 in the morning I got really sick. I threw up many times and had the other problem too just like Sean. I can’t remember a time that I was so sick. I felt like I was going to die. Thank goodness that Jeni took the kids in the morning & kept them all day. She is keeping them until 3 this afternoon so I can rest. Jess is going to get groceries with her & Nick has the boys. I slept all day yesterday and all night. I just ate a couple of crackers so I hope they stay down. Not a good day. I think I was just exhausted & it hit me hard. I sure hope Jess doesn’t get it. I am not sure why it took me a whole week to catch it. That seems really wierd to me. I am really tired right now. I am going to take a shower and go lay down again. Maybe I will be able to get some of my strength back.

Have fun shopping today & enjoy your good meal. Right now food doesn’t sound at all good to me. Did you lose any weight on this trip? How about Matt? It sounds like you are ready to come home. It is nice to be away but home is good. I know that the kids will be happy to see you. We have kept them entertained though. I will give the kids your valentine gifts today.

    Love you both. Mom

    Mom-
I was so hoping that you wouldn’t get sick….I’m surprised it took this long to get it, but I know you are probably worn out from having the kids all week. I can’t thank you enough for watching them and I’m praying that Jessica and no one else will get sick.
It’s been a great week here, but I do miss the kids and want to see them. I haven’t been this busy for years!!! We certainly did alot this week and I will miss the interaction I’ve had with everyone. I’m really looking forward to finding some treasures today at the market and having a meal at one of the restarants here. Then tomorrow we’re up and at em early and flying home! I am loving the sunny, warm weather here and do not want to come back to the snow! Is there still alot of snow on the ground?
Matt spend the day yesterday interacting with the kids, he said he was playing soccer for about 3 hrs. along with everything else he did with the kids. He was wearing his combat boots and ended up with several blisters on his feet. My ankle is close to it’s normal size today and feels alot better. I don’t know if I was leaning on that foot more than the other or if it’s just b/c I broke it that it’s quicker to swell up.
How did the valentines parties go for the kids? Did they enjoy getting cards from everyone? I’m sure they had a great time and I wish I could have helped in their classes.
Not sure exactly when we’ll be home tomorrow, but I’m guessing around 9 or so. I’ll try to call if we get a chance and let you know how we’re doing time wise.
See you tomorrow! Love you all lots.
