Well WOW let me say it again WOW. the van ride out to the work site was nothing like at home. The hill down to the work site is very steep. The brakes on the van just about went out. we got to a spot that was flat I have pictures of the spot. we came to a stop but did not stop. at that point the brakes were gone. we were only 1/4 mile uphill of the work site, so some walked down others waited for the van to come back. There are lots of words to help you understand how the work sites are. The cement pads are all in place but the first one was down hill 20′. It had rained last night so it was a little muddy. two of us fell going down. The next site the one Lori and I worked on was about 30′ down on a trail about 150 long. then down another 10′ but only 25′ to walk. the last one was down another 20′ down on a trail about 30′ I hope you can see that in your minds eye. we are work at an altitude around 7000′+/-
We had Dan work with us, I say us, that would be Alvern and Mary Poest and Beverly Watson.
with Dan leading us we worked fast. we had the walls up with board inside and out before lunch. we mudded the drywall and screwed the wall board on the outside. then went to help others. we had to get all of the houses to the same point before we went back to base.
Wow is right! Sounds like a wonderful challenge, tho. Very rewarding work, too.
Can’t wait to see more pictures. Some have been downloaded already, but didn’t look like you took them.
Well we are done with the houses. we all worked very hard to finish them by lunch time . thursday. then we went form house to house giving them to the familys. that was very moving to share God’s love with them. we have someone that knows how to post pictures and as soon as she gets up we will post more.
Sounds like a very challenging ordeal but the rewards are amazing. Maybe Kev and I can go sometime and i can work for the clinics… Things are going great here and my surgery was fine. Kev has plowed your road and took care of me all week… he is such a sweetheart.
We went out to do a clinic and play with the kids. I had a football with a rocket tail, it took a little to get some boys to play catch but as soon as the frist one moved out to play I had 5. I threw until my arm hurt. went to check on the clinic and see what else was going on. we were told not to go far so the whole place that we had to be was not much bigger then our house with like 100 people in it. Dan said that he did not see anything that he has not seen before and mostly parasites. he told us on the way there how he came to do this part and that here there are not lawers to get in the way yet. but that is changing also. lori past out drugs so now she is a drug pusher. LOL OTC stuff
Well it is almost done we are packed and going to try and sleep for a few hours. we had a very nice day shopping came back raided the left overs and packed. then we had devotions. I just sent out more picture. I will go through what I have and set up a slide show. I am planning to copy all the members pictures to one place so all will have all the pic’s from each.
We are leaving at 4:15 am /5:15 michigan time for the airport. 12 hours later we should be in detroit.
You will always be a gentle giant to me… and I think all the little oncs from Guatemala would agree I loved seeing your passion in everything on this trip! God is good!
Ron and Lori, good for you! I went to the Philippines in 1991 for 3
weeks with a lay-witness ministry and brought more back than I left there.
Work hard and….Do pack a lot of deodorant!
God bless,
Judy (and Ron, of course)
We made it fine and it is not to hot yet.
Wow what a great day more later
